This is the first biography focused on Manuel Bartolomé Cossío as an intellectual. He was Francisco Giner de los Ríos’ favorite disciple and one of the main architects of the pedagogical reforms undertaken during the Restoration and the Second Republic. The author analyzes Cossio’s involvement in and influence on educational institutions, mainly the Institución Libre de Enseñanza and the Museo Pedagógico Nacional, which he directed from 1915 and 1882 respectively.
