Alberti sobre los ángeles
Edición de Andrés Soria Olmedo

[2003]

Coedition with the Fundación El Monte
Includes Rafael Alberti's book Sobre los ángeles according to its first edition

The exhibition, organized by the Fundación El Monte, Fundación Rafael Alberti and the Residencia de Estudiantes to commemorate the poet’s birth centenary, focused on Alberti’s Sobre los ángeles, and analyzed his personal and creative career in the late 1929’s.

C. Brian Morris, José Jiménez, Zoraida Carandell and Andrés Soria Olmedo, the exhibit’s curator, wrote essays on the factors that played a role in the genesis of this book, where Alberti gave aesthetic expression to his own personal crisis during those years. The catalog reproduces the first edition of Sobre los ángeles (Compañía Ibero-Americana de Publicaciones. Madrid 1929). It also includes articles and reviews that give an idea of the impact of this book at the time of its publication, and Pedro Salinas’ lecture on the book at the Residencia.

The art works in the exhibit are reproduced in color, including angels from medieval books, and works by Maruja Mallo, the Vallecas group and Alberti’s drawings.
