Revista Música

[1998]

Sponsored by Fundación Autor of the SGAE

Facsimile edition of the five issues of this periodical published between January and June, 1938 in Barcelona by the Consejo Central de la Música, a unique - and hard to find- testimony of Spain’s cultural and musical activities during the Civil War.

Prominent musical figures, such as Eduardo Martínez Torner, José Subirá, Julián Bautista and Rodolfo Halffter wrote articles on a variety of subjects and reviews of international musical events. Each issue comes with a supplement with scores by composers linked to the Generación del 27: Julián Bautista, Salvador Bacarisse, Gustavo Durán and Enrique Casal Chapí. An additional reference issue has been published, with an introduction by Emilio Casares Rodicio on the cultural environment around this «revista comprometida», and four indexes (names, illustrations, scores and works).
