Gonzalo Rojas (Lebu, Chile, 1917), Premio Cervantes 2003, has maintained a close connection with the Residencia de Estudiantes since his first visit in 1990: "I am at this Residence, home of the gods: it is hard to read inside the magnetism of this space, in the magical breath of these surfaces, of these boards, which dyastole and systole have meant, for so many years, the highest enchantment".

Since then, he has returned many times to read his poetry, to attend meetings and give seminars. In 1996 he initiated the project "Poeta en Residencia," withthe reading of the poems collected in this volume. "No sé lo que es la poesía, se me aparece pero no sé lo que es, todo lo más tengo visiones," he said. He also talked about the circumstances of his writing and his “kindred imaginarius, ” the writers and works which most influenced his poetry.
