Coedition with the Colegio de México

These are the papers and essays submitted to the third conference on Los refugiados españoles y la cultura mexicana, held at the la Residencia de Estudiantes, January 1st and 2nd, 1999.

The focus of the conference was on Spanish poet Emilio Prados, in celebration of his birth centenary, which the Residencia was also commemorating with an exhibition.

The papers contribute to better defining Prado’s life and creative work, and to review its vicissitudes. They are an excellent example of the spirit behind these conferences, product of the cooperation between the Residencia de Estudiantes and El Colegio de México. The project began in 1994 aimed at promoting knowledge about the relationship between Spanish and Mexican cultures in the first half of the twentieth century, a strong bond created by the exiles after the Spanish Civil War.

The fourth conference, dedicated to Luis Cernuda’s centenary, took place at El Colegio de México this year.
