«Los Putrefactos» de Dalí y Lorca.
Historia y antología de un libro que no pudo ser
Rafael Santos Torroella

[1998]

This book explored one of the least known episodes in Salvador Dalí’s life: a publication project of his so-called “rotten” drawings with a proposed foreword by Federico García Lorca, designed between 1925 and 1926. Although the project did not go to press (García Lorca never wrote the promised introduction), many of the drawings still exist. They are caricatures of a repertoire of characters in scenes drawn from everyday life.

Rafael Santos Torroella analyzed and structured by topic 60 “rotten” drawings; he also explained Lorca’s reasons for abandoning the project and the impact of this decision on his friendship with Dalí, and their friends at the Residencia in the 1920s.
