La voz de Antonio Gamoneda

[2004]

Antonio Gamoneda (Oviedo, 1931) is undoubtedly one of the most prominent Spanish poets. Premio Nacional de Poesía (1988), his work has been linked to the poetry of Tristan Tzara, Arthur Rimbaud, Charles Baudelaire – he acknowledges his debt to French Symbolism- and Lorca’s latest poems. Two features characterize Gamoneda’s poetry: he is self-taught and very critical of his own writings. He often re-writes poems already published.

On June 28, 2004 Gamoneda read for a second time at the Poesía en la Residencia series. After a brief introduction about his vision of "poesía de todos, una realidad y una conducta, y no necesariamente una representación, un ornamento o una actividad informativa"-, he read sixty six poems from Libro del frío and Arden las pérdidas.

This audio book includes a CD, the transcript, and some notes about the life and work of the poet.
